After a year away from the Sunshine State, Matthew Skinner will be joining the Southern Districts Spartans as Referee Development Manager from January 2019. “This is am important appointment for our organisation” said Hamish Cain, GM. “Having previously been the State Referee Development Manager, Matthew brings a wealth of knowledge and experience he will do a great job in developing the Spartans referee program”.
Matthew’s experience includes many years as a QBL referee and educator, as well as developing a community-level referee program as Referee Development Manager at Bankstown Basketball in New South Wales.
“I’m excited to be joining the Spartans family and helping to grow and develop our referees program. With the growth in both our domestic competitions and representative teams it is important that we have a strong referees body and that we continue to build the program for the future.” Said Matthew.
“Having been involved with basketball for many years I’ve seen the positive effect that a good referee program can have on the competitions at both local and representative level. We will be aiming to build on our current resources here at Spartans, as well as developing our referees and educators further.”
